I have used this book for over twenty years. It is the most reliable guide to preserving food on the market. The procedures, from cleaning the surfaces an with food is cut, to storing the jars and freezer containers, are thoroughly described, so even a beginner can be confident of tasty safe results. Best of all, the ingredients and processes are explained so you know why you are taking each step!!! I recommend this book to friends and family often. I am glad to see a new edition available!

Best resource ive found!
I live on a farm and have a lot of canning/preserving books, in fact a whole library of cook books, herb books and 2 gardening encyclopedias. This year when the garden was really producing I found myself reaching for my volumn of Putting Food By instead of many of my others. It is quite comprehensive and the authors have so much experience that all my questions are pretty much answered here in one place. I like the book so much that I have ordered 4 different hard bound ones for friends from different alibris booksellers. The book has been revised at least 5 different times over the years, I like to look at the older and newer revisions to see the difference in procedures over the years.
Have had great service from each bookseller I've ordered from and even spoken to a few about canning since I have gotten my books. Nice people, great service-- keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!
