This is written with love and wonder, as all Goudge books were.
It's a shame she didn't write more for children, but there's not a wide gulf there - her children's books have plenty for an adult and many of her adult books are accessible to older children.
This one is particularly about family and healing, offering mystery and humor and a certain order in the universe.
