This is one of the best books of its kind I have ever read, and I LOVE to read. The things the author wanted to say were very said well but with subtlety. The characters were varied and very well defined according to the need of the story. E. G. writes profound truth gently, never too explicity, and you benefit most if you are aware that if you pay attention to her details, the story will be far more satisfactory to you and will give you great pleasure through multiple readings. I have read it over the years at least six times and never fail to love it and see little things I had missed before. I highly recommend this book!

Good book
This book is a little hard to stick with at first- but it all makes sense soon. Occasionally verbose but just skip those paragraphs and you will be glad you read all the way to the end. Well written- interesting and engaging inter-connections of people's lives in this little town. A clever and different way to present some good truths.
