English is not my mother tong but the contents of this book impressed me so much that I had to praise it. My culinary interest was the reason to buy it. However, after starting to read it, the second surprise was coming, which was coinciding with my other big interest, THE HISTORY. I have just started to read and was reading continuously in my free times. The more than 700 pages have vanished very soon. I have learned not only the culinary habit of Italians living in different region of the country but I learned a huge amount of detailed history on Italy and from the world as well. For me it was double pleasure to learn gastronomy and history together. (Not to mention about the new words to my vocabulary, like chamois, feline grace, etc.) Waverley Lewis Root knowledge is so impressing that I have decided to buy his other books as well.
