A lot of the bands in the indie/alternative scene owed a debt to Suicide, either directly or indirectly, and this compilation brings together a number of artists who wanted to acknowledge the fact by covering some songs by Martin Rev and Alan Vega. It's a very noisy and drony affair in a lot of places, and that's only natural considering the source material being honored here, but there are also a few loops thrown: both the Gories and Mudhoney give their numbers a garagey feel, the Flaming Lips turn in a very Lips-like version of Suicide, Angel Corpus Christi throws in accordion, and both the Nomads and Ben Vaughn check in with a version of rockabilly that's more traditional than suicidal.
