Tower of Babel
Oh. My. Goodness. I loved this book. I love everything by this author but I hesitated when this one started out with time travel because I'm not a fan of sci-fi, but once Peter was in ancient Babylon at the time of Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel and his three friends I loved it. Peter Thornton is a professor of religion at a university and he believes all religions are the same and he can make himself god. His journey to the past opens his eyes. There are several story arcs, with two love stories, the building of Nebuchadnezzar's idol and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace, worship of the goddess Ishtar, the plight of the exiled Jews in Babylon, their hopes for the Messiah and the links to Christ. It is so exciting with Peter being pursued as the diviner, Rim-Sin. Meanwhile, Rim-Sin is back in the future, messing up Peter's life. Sad to see it end, but it wrapped up nicely. I would recommend anything by this author.
