Solid, Time-Tested Advice
One is always leery of a technology book that's more than a few years old, and this volume is pushing 10. However, I was very pleased to find not only solid advice that is still relevant, but also dozens of excellent online resources that have stood the test of time.
References are included in the text itself without a consolidated list of links, which would have been handy. Naturally, some of the sites no longer exist, but the majority of them do, and they represent some of the best websites on the subject. All of these sites have been around since at least 1999, some since 1995 - and that durability means a lot in this field.
The text generally follows the author's own advice, being well laid-out and easy-to-read, if a little plain. Concerns about modem speeds and graphics are mostly obsolete, while the majority of the text, offering tips for writing clearly, writing for an electronic medium, and understanding the audience, are absolutely current.
