A lighthearted, funny plot line with engaging characters and a deus ex machina as heroine. If you want a historical romance to leave you more cheerful than it found you, this is the book for you. Please do not confuse with Harlequin romances. Backed by impeccable scholarship in the Regency period (which the author is too clever to do more than hint at), totally wholesome, light but not shallow - this is Georgette Heyer at her best. Some laugh-out-loud dialogue, too.

Superb!
One of G. Heyer's best, truly a herione for the ages. I can can see why The Grand Sophy is considered a Heyer classic.

A fun book to read
Set in England in the early 1800's, this story has some compelling characters and a fun and funny plot line. Sophia - the "Grand Sophy" - is a character I wouldn't want to to have missed. She is thrust upon some of her relatives when her father leaves for Brazil, and she manages to work her self into their hearts and lives in an amusing and heartwarming way.
