Updated edition of the beloved classic by the Queen of Regency romance herself, Georgette Heyer, featuring a new Foreword by New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James. ?There's no problem Sophy can't solve... Sophy has traveled the Continent with her diplomat father and knows everyone worth knowing. When she goes to stay with her aunt and cousins in London, she turns her brilliant mind to the benefit of all around her, whether they want her help or not. It doesn't take long for Sophy to see what's amiss. Her cousin Charles's domineering tendencies are being aggravated by his grimly proper fiance--that engagement must be scotched, that's for sure. Her cousin Cecelia has her heart set on an entirely unsuitable young man--handsome as can be, and a romantic poet besides, but can't even summon a carriage in the rain. And her aunt obviously needs help sorting out the finances. Sophy knows exactly how to fix it all--but not without first turning everything on its ear. "Absolutely delicious tales of Regency heroes... Utter, immersive escapism."-- SOPHIE KINSELLA "One never forgets one's first Heyer."-- MARY JO PUTNEY , New York Times bestselling author "There's no greater gift than to re-immerse yourself in the delightful world Georgette Heyer created... A lighthearted, funny plot line with engaging characters and a deus ex machina as heroine. If you want a historical romance to leave you more cheerful than it found you, this is the book for you. Please do not confuse with Harlequin romances. Backed by impeccable scholarship in the Regency period (which the author is too clever to do more than hint at), totally wholesome, light but not shallow - this is Georgette Heyer at her best. Some laugh-out-loud dialogue, too.

A fun book to read
Set in England in the early 1800's, this story has some compelling characters and a fun and funny plot line. Sophia - the "Grand Sophy" - is a character I wouldn't want to to have missed. She is thrust upon some of her relatives when her father leaves for Brazil, and she manages to work her self into their hearts and lives in an amusing and heartwarming way.
