Sonia was a Russian princess who knew a lot about life, but very little about a ranch. Dexter Sublette, her foreman, knew about ranching but couldn't understand why she wanted to go into the ranch business. When Sonia's ex-boyfriend, Serge, arrives and moves in, it tells Dex that Sonia hasn't left all of Russia behind her. And when someone wants Sonia's prize horses, Dex knows he's in for real trouble, from both inside and outside. Written and published in 1936, Destiny Range is an excellent novel by one of the founders of the western genre, and about as classic and traditional as can be. But don't let that dissuade you from reading or buying this book; for the writing is nothing short of spectacular. L.P. Holmes was a master of action and suspense. His books move with the speed of a bullet, but he keeps you wanting to know what is on the next page. This IS a very GOOD book! Excellent!
