Author Sharon Flake writes excellent fiction for young readers and storylines that are typical of urban life. This book is as good as The Skin I'm In and would capture the young readers attention

Great book
I have 3 daughters, 12,13 & 14. They have never really enjoyed reading as much as me. My youngest checked out this book from the school library and loved it. She talked about it so much that my middle daughter checked it out. She loved it as well and since then they have both read all of the books by this author (and loved everyone of them). They've moved on to others but I credit Sharon G. Flake for inspiring my daughters to read. Still no luck with my oldest though, lol.

Teens love this book!
I am a middle school teacher in an urban setting and I teach struggling readers. This book is an absolute favorite of my students. Many can personally relate to the characters in the book and they think it is a true story. They don't want to finish the book because it is so good that they don't want it to end. Fortunately the author has written a sequel.
