As I enjoy historical fiction, I thought this book was pretty good. It would have been helpful if the author had placed the book in a specific year before the Civil War since some readers may not know much about American history in the 19th century. I did like the book because it showed how significant various quilt patterns were to people at that time in history. I'll say no more because I don't want to give away the story line.

Great reading
This book kept up the tradition of excellent reading by the author. It's good to read the books in order as they often relate back to previous times.

An worthy read
This story is tremendous in its ability to draw the reader in to the story and assists in contributing to the rich history of the Elm Creek series of books. The author has done yet another credible job of weaving threads into the rich tapestry that is the Elm Creek series of stories. Her general references to time period and location are very good and the attention to the details of the characters' lives engrossing. The little twist near the end of the book caught me by surprise ... I just did not see it coming and it made my eyes bulge and my mough drop open before I smiled at the brilliance of it all. An excellent addition to the series.
