This is the story of one of the few survivors of a "green" platoon almost wiped out in the first engagement with the Germans. Almost nothing is recorded in the history of the divison about this disaster. The writer also describes his mental care after the battle. One of the most interesting substories is the meeting of best friends who served in different squads 50 years after the war.
