The horse whisperer is a great book about people and not about horses as it seems. The movie with Robert Redford is not as descriptive, vivid and moving as the book is. Also, the movie script is different from the book that it is supposed to be based on.

suprisingly good
During a vacation, I was looking for a novel to read. In the cottage where we were staying, there were several books available but none seemed interesting. As the weather was rainy, I chose the Horse Whisperer with little hope that I'd like it.. As I saw the movie and enjoyed it , I never read the book so I gave it a try. It was a surprisingly good read. The author had a writing style that gripped the reader from the start. The first page immediately had me hooked and I finished the book quickly. I so enjoyed it that I ordered the other Nicholas Evans books and wasn't disappointed as they were all as enjoyable as the first. I have another author to list among my favorites!

Wow!!
Don't waste your time with the film - which lacks any character depth at all and doesn't follow the book well. Instead - sit back with a cup of coffee, and warm blanket, and dive into the story that will take you away to the mountains of Montana. Evans has a way of giving you clear insight into the characters, personalities, and the deepest emotions of the story, engaging you in their lives. I was swept away into a world of longing and lost love, curoisty, and sexual desire, lost futures, and crushed dreams, acceptance, and unconditional love. This book has it all!
