This is a very good book for those who already have a general knoweledge of art history, not for beginers, because it describes specific works of art, so you need to have a previous knoweledge of the age, and context to be able to understand what it is talking about, to me it will be more helpfull if the author dedicate a little bit more to the background of the art styles and artistic movements.
