Author had an interesting approach - sending a couple back in time to ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt. A superficial look at life in BC Rome. It is not a book that you can't put down. Really did not learn anything new. But for someone who has not read about the development of Christianity, it would offer some insights. e.g. As Christianity developed in these areas, there were many different Christian sects and many different doctrine. As the Catholic church started setting a cohesive doctrine, the smaller groups declined, some dying out.
