I got this book at some point in my childhood, I suspect from my grandmother at the thrift store. Gone-Away has always stuck with me. I truly believe that this book had a great impact on my life. The whole idea of discovering a lost neighborhood and unearthing its stories inspired me as a child and onwards. I'm currently in college studying archaeology, and I have this dear novel to thank! It is a wonderful story of adventure and independence for children, with the bonus of promoting interest in nature and history. It will always be a favorite of mine!
