Seller's Description:
Good. The book is nice and 100% readable, but the book has visible wear which may include stains, scuffs, scratches, folded edges, sticker glue, highlighting, notes, and worn corners.
I got this book at some point in my childhood, I suspect from my grandmother at the thrift store. Gone-Away has always stuck with me. I truly believe that this book had a great impact on my life. The whole idea of discovering a lost neighborhood and unearthing its stories inspired me as a child and onwards. I'm currently in college studying archaeology, and I have this dear novel to thank! It is a wonderful story of adventure and independence for children, with the bonus of promoting interest in nature and history. It will always be a favorite of mine!

Gone Away Lake is Delightful
If you enjoy children's adventure stories, this book will excite and delight you at every page turn. The story is about Portia Blake and her cousin, Julian, who are exploring the woods near Julian's new farm. They discover Gone Away Lake and its two charming and sweet inhabitants, Mrs. Cheever and her brother, Pinder, who the children affectionately later call 'Uncle Pin'. Some exciting moments in the book include: the discovery of the Philosipher's Stone, the exploration of the old houses in Gone Away, the discovery of Craney-Crow Island, and the christening of Gulper Bridge. If you like fun stories with lots of mystery and adventure, this book is for you! If you like Gone Away Lake, be sure you check out the sequel, Return to Gone Away Lake, .
