Very good book, kept me interested. I have read others by Cornwall that I liked better but still an excellent read for all mystery lovers.

I adore Patricia Cornwell novels, particularly the Scarpetta series, so I was anxious to read this. I now hope she returns to the style of writing I have come to admire so much. By the end of this book I was totally confused! I found it heavy-going and was tempted more than once to give up reading it. However I stuck with it to the bitter end. I think the basic idea was excellent, but because of its intricacies, would have benefitted from more clarity from the reader's point of view. She's usually so "clear-cut". Perhaps her scalpel needs sharpening.

A Different Kind of Scarpetta Suspense
This latest Scarpetta novel is quite something. The literacy and narrative style takes a different shape. It has since The Last Precinct, which makes the novel a little less enjoyable and a little more confusing for the regular Scarpetta fan, such as myself. The story itself is excellent, just like any of Patricia Cornwell's novels. The reader is caught up in a web of suspense from beginning to end. The only problem is, there isn't really an ending.
