In the elk-dog band of the "People" Eagle woman is a warrior sister. Her brother, Bobcat, is killed by the "Head-Splitters, and Eagle Woman decides to become a full fledge warrior against the wishes of Long Walker, who wishes to marry her. He challenges her right to become a warrior, and they have contests to test her abilities. She wins. She changes her name to Running Eagle and seeks vengence for her brothers death. Long Walker decides to go along with her to help her, and to try to keep her safe. They are very successful in creating havic in the Head-Splitters camp, killing all of the war party that was involved in killing her brother Bobcat. But Running Warrior is not satisfied and wants more revenge. Long Walker does not know what to do. Should he give her up for a lost cause, or should he continue to help her in hope that she will grow tired of killing Head-Splitters. Read what happens.
