A man bent on revenge(Cord). Another man just as willing to keep the battle going(Preston). An innocent woman stuck in the middle (Susan). Each man (and even a mother/aunt) committing sins against each other for deeds at least 15-20 years past. Unwilling to be an outcast any longer, the blacksheep comes home to stake his claim. He meets the innocent woman and sparks fly (of course). Unsure of her compliance in activities commit against him, he is torn with his feelings. However, his actions are ruthless. As are that of Preston. All the while the two men are wresting with Susan caught in the middle of a game she has no clue about. She is a woman who despises battles and tries in vain to thwart the constant pressures and fights, not understanding the necessity for them. Even when she learns more of the back stories, she still believes they can work it out without further angst. Behind the scenes, while the battle wages between Cord & Preston, she is trying to save the company (same as Preston) she has become a part of due to the death of her husband several years past. Due to her stance of protecting the comany, Cord believes she must be a party to the conspiracy. In the end, an act of compassion turns the tables (you will have to read to find out what it is) with only Susan being the one who has to lose in order for there to be peace. Read this story in a single sitting as you will not want to put it down. It is likely you will want to reach for it again!
