Intrigue During the Civil War
The backdrop for this E. E. Halleran novel is the Civl War. Union Captain Tom Baird is sent undercover to try to find out who is behind a scheme to capture Colorado for the Confederacy. While incognito Baird is "captured" by a Union patrol and has a hard time trying to convince them of who he is. To complicate things even further a very beautiful brunette shows up, and he only finds out later that she is a Union agent as well. This is an excellent book.
