There certainly are interesting revelations to anyone who grew up during this era and remembers watching Bandstand. I am familiar with many of the artists and the music but didn't realize the games that were played behind the media images of the time. But as the book reveals ,promotion and exposure were not always enough to make an artist or a record successful. In addition as Bandstand changed and eventually declined other avenues were found to market singers and their music. In all a fascinating book for anyone who enjoyed rock and roll from their teen years to adulthood.
