All of the books by Erin Hunter are FANTASTICAL. No matter what other people say this is an amazing book. With many wonderful characters. The plots twist and turn when you don't expect it. When I first read this series I was blown away by the mystical world of the cats. Erin Hunter did an magnificent job with all her books. That's all I have to say.

Into the Wild
I always give interesting looking kid's books a chance. This one was a miss. I saw the whole series on the shelf, about feral cats who live in "clan" groups and thought it would be similar to two old favorites of mine, "Ratha's Creature" by Clare Bell and "Tailchaser's Song" by Tad Williams. I was disappointed. "Into the Wild" is about a young housecat seeking adventure who joins a group of feral cats in the forest, becomes an apprentice warrior and helps them fight off neighboring clans. Although this book attempts to create a full bodied world, it just doesn't quite make it. Yes, there are kitty legends and culture, friends and foes, pretty lady cats and nasty old toms, acts of betrayal and courage. Enough stuff for a good story. But it's not very well written. The characters are rather flat, their actions and the plot pretty predictable. There is nothing here that really makes you feel like you're in the secret lives of felines. It wasn't worth my time continuing.

Cats are awesome
First things first, I am a huge huge cat lover. When I read this series it just made me love cats even more. This book is totally awesome. My favorite clan is ThunderClan of course. There's mystery, suspense, magic happens all over in this book. I love how the cats have there own heaven like place called StarClan. Now my favorite cat would be Feathertail. Anyways this book is great for those cat lovers out there and even if you don't like cats at all you should still read this book no matter what your favorite animal is.

great for cat lovers
I read this book because I am a huge cat lover. I have 3 right now. I cannot say I own them, I would say however that they OWN me. All of my cats have their own web page and on it they are in groups and one of the groups is about different books each have read. Well we were told about this book. I went and got it and could not put it down. It says that once you read it you will never look at another cat the way you did before. They were right. It is under youth reading and I am over 40 but I loved every single word. Its all about a cat that starts out being a kitty pet and longs to go into the wild. Well he mets a wild cat and they become friends and he ventures into the woods. All the cats there live in different clans. They follow what the stars have to tell them from their ancestors. The book, well the whole series and there is 2 of them, is worth the read. Again I couldnt put it down. I hope this helps. Lisa and her kitty Sigmond

A Delight To Read
I'm a great lover of children's and young adult books. In fact, I probably read more children's books than adult best-sellers. One day while hunting around for a book in the children's section of the llibrary, I came across "Into The Wild" by Erin Hunter. I suppose I was drawn to it, as I am a cat lovers and own two cats, or "kittypets" myself. I say kittypets, as that is what cats are known as to the wild, feral cats that live in the forest surrounded by Twolegs, meaning we humans. Erin Hunter has created a wonderful world based on wild cats who belong to clans...their is the Thunderclan, Windclan, Shadowclan, and iRiverclan. Each clan has it own leader, a "deputy" , warriors, apprentices and kits that are newly born. These clans and the way of life is very similar to tribal existances and have strict codes of conduct. It is a Kittypet, who has up until now led a nice, comfortable, cozy life with Twolegs, but is drawn by what is beyond his safe comfort zone...one day he leaves the comfort of this lifestyle to join up with the Thunderclan, and becomes known as Firepaw and becomes apprenticed to none other than the clans leader, Bluestar. When his apprenticeship is over he is then renamed as Fireheart. This book is but the first of many books that Erin Hunter has written the follows the lives and events of Fireheart's life with the Thunderclan--from his acceptance to the clan to the battles waged between clans and the general day to day battle of life itself as a wild cat. Because of this book, I'm now thoroughly hooked and continue Ms. Hunter's further adventures in the Warrior series.
