This is a wonderful facsimile reproduction of Thomas Tusser's 'A Hundreth' and 'Five Hundred Points of Good Husbandry'. This work defended the garden as the 'domain of the housewife', and has been considered notable for its defense of enclosures. The work was one of the best selling poetry books of the Elizabethan Age', and combines a mix of homely instructions with observations on rural life and country customs. Contents include an editor's introduction, a family tree, 'The Life of Tusser', and 'A Hundred' and 'Five hundred Good Points of Husbandry'. The text ends with the 'Last will of Thomas Tusser' and 'Epitaph'. Written by Thomas Tusser, an English poet and farmer, best known for 'A Hundredth Good Pointes of Husbandrie'. Edited by Dorothy Hartley, an English social historian, illustrator, and author particularly known for 'The Life and Work of the People of England'. In the original quarter cloth binding.
