Logan Dalhart, just paroled from prison gets off the train on the outskirts of town to avoid any confrontations. He want to meet with the sheriff first, and the sheriff "lays down the law"; only trouble awaited him if he stayed in the country where he was raised. His ranch was gone, his cattle sold to pay back taxes and bills. The sheriff would even arrange a transfer of the parole to some other place so Logan could make a new start. Of course as a parolee he couldn't carry a gun, and he knew there were enough people still around to hate his guts and take sniping shots at him. There was a lot to consider, but ultimately he would prove that he was framed for killing Albie Richards in a saloon brawl, when according to witnesses, Albie had carried no gun. To clear his name, to clear the range of hidden land-grabbers, these were but two of the problems Logan faced. Great story line, wonderfully and clearly told in only the way L P Holmes can tell it.
