Whoa, Nelly. Are their hips even attached?
This final entry in Kili Kilihune's "Island Girl" series is a couple of notches more difficult than the others, and is something to aspire to. There is one particular move that I simply cannot do up to speed, the double time 'ami. That said, in doing as best as I can, I still get a thorough cardio workout. The focus in this specific workout is definitely the lower abs, which are utilized almost the whole way through in hip tilts and 'amis. The obliques do get some notice, with horizontal and diagonal figure 8s.
The cardio here doesn't come from large leg movements, or hops, or jumps, but from the effort of putting ones entire body into intricate motion. It's quite difficult, and I think that the reason I was able to keep up at all is that I'm familiar with belly dance moves. I definitely recommend working through the other "Island Girl" titles ("Cardio Hula," "Hula for Abs and Buns," and "Tahitian Cardio") before attempting this one, as it puts together all the most difficult moves at a quick pace. The workout is great, and I look forward to becoming more coordinated, but I can see this DVD being very frustrating to a novice who hasn't tried the easier levels first.
