Book is extremely adequate for beginning and experienced birders. It is a pictorial approach to initial field identification, text is adequate for this level of identification. If any shortcoming, it would be in flight and unique color phase identification. Their are however many specialty texts available to fill this void. In most instances and at most expertise levels, this is the most updated and accurate field guide currently available.
