However it seems strange that in the very first sentence of his liner notes, Brisker mentions singer Gail Wynters' warmth, because to a large extent warmth is missing from her interpretations. She sounds much older than she looks in her picture, and her delivery (which sometimes displays her roots in gospel music) is a bit forbidding and never overly appealing. Wynters never really uplifts any of the standards that she performs (which include "The Very Thought of You," "We'll Be Together Again," "I Remember You" and "Come Rain or Come Shine"), nor reveals any hidden meanings in the warhorses, making this a so-so release. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
