Piano Concertos of the 1920s has retained its budget price, and Arte Nova has improved the sound of the disc over the older issue -- it is at least louder, if still a little dark and in need of added brightness.The main event on Piano Concertos of the 1920s is the amazing, never- before-recorded first piano concerto of George Antheil, a real discovery. Although in his notes Rische repeats Antheil's own quote that he, "represented (an) anti-expressive, anti-romantic, ice-cold aesthetic," the music is not like that at all.
