Jeff Jarvis is a fine trumpeter and flügelhornist who was most influenced by Freddie Hubbard. However, on this set, the musicians are better than the material. Most of the songs have throwaway and pop-ish melodies that unfortunately make the tunes sound preferable as background music rather than for close listening.
