In 1946, after recording for Columbia for almost two decades, Kate Smith signed to MGM. The motion picture company was then making a fledgling move into the recording industry, and this collection includes 22 tracks recorded for MGM during 1947, all but one with Jack Miller's Orchestra. Although only one song here became a hit ("Now Is the Hour"), Smith's voice is as strong as ever. The arrangements, though hardly inventive, are solid enough as well.
