Certainly it's the guitar work, rather than Kate Jackson's serviceable gospel singing, that makes this worthy of attention for gospel fans, and perhaps for some secular blues and soul listeners as well. Some of the cuts employ steel guitar to some of the most eye-popping ends you'll hear in any kind of 1990s music, such as the jump blues-ish "Jump for Joy" and the curling sustain that colors a lot of this disc (sounding at times like a hybrid of the steel guitar and the theremin).
