While all the other fly by night funksters fell by the wayside, Weapon of Choice built quite a nice sized cult following -- and it all started with 1994's Nut-Meg Sez "Bozo the Town." Led by singer/bassist Lonnie Marshall, the group has obviously studied their Parliament records, as evidenced by such tracks as "Nutty Nutmeg Phantasy." And while funk is their main focus, rock manages to enter into the equation as well, especially on the album-opener, "Hi," plus "Cat-A-Chronick" and "Is Funk Aroma Thera "P" Utik?" With George Clinton and his gang focusing primarily on road work during the '90s, someone had to pick up the funk-in-the-studio slack, and Weapon of Choice certainly obliged -- getting off to a good start with Nut-Meg Sez "Bozo the Town." ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
