What can I say? I've loved Caruso for 63 years now. To me, he is the greatest Tenor who ever sang. Mario Lanzas' life mirrored Carusos'. They both died was too young.

Great Grand Opera w/Mario Lanza
This was a gift to best friend who'd seen a cliip on TV and loved it. His grandfather loved Caruso and "The Great Caruso" took him back to a time long gone when grandfather was alive. The movie, made in 1951, probably takes the usual Hollywood license with facts (I've not seen it) but is enjoyable and Lanza's voice is much admired by many grand opera tenors.

greatest music, so-so acting
this is a very fine movie, I first saw it as a child and it made such an impression on me that I wanted to hear more of the classic music available.. I purchased this for my granddaughter hoping she will see it as I did at her age. There are few tenors that can sing like Mario Lanza did in his prime.
