charming folktale, charmingly rendered
Well cast, well filmed, lovingly directed and acted treatment of a charming folk tale about the eternality of true love, in which a young bride, on her way to the (indifferent, business-obsessed) groom's home, attracts the faithful love and devotion of a discarnate spirit. The groom is sent from home by the family on a 5-year business trip, leaving the marriage unconsummated. At this point, the spirit becomes material so he can be close to her - assuming the form of the departed groom, and for some years they live in marital bliss and joy... until the untimely return of the businessman-groom. How this resolves is a testimony to eternal love - and the highly engaging, clever and witty storytelling of Indian forebears.
