Give this one a look
Excellent film noir offering. Black & White with lots of good shadows and hard nosed dames. Of course, it has a private eye and crooked cops with a graveyard plus big guns aimed at point blank range toward men, and women, who donÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t seem to notice. The best part of this movie is the unexpected ending. I will supply no hints. As everything gets turned upside down the plot gets thick, so the audience needs to just sit back and enjoy the ride.
ThereÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s sexual innuendo and bedroom scenes, but no undressed critical parts show. No cussing, smoking, or swilling down huge amounts of liquor. Pretty tame, and would fit with a 1940s movie quite well. Of course, a few people are knocked off at close range, but no blood splattering all over the wall. And there are several shootouts, with plenty of casualties, but blood and gore are carefully avoided.
I thought the filming was very good. The writing was tight and effective, given the subject. The actors did their job and managed to convince me that they were experiencing real emotions. A few times I thought the acting skirted the edge of going over the top, but overacting was deftly avoided in the final analysis.
Very entertaining and fun. Highly recommended for those seeking crime movies with mystery and a sinuous plot line. Get the popcorn early because you will not want to miss any of this.
