"In space, no one can hear you scream." A close encounter of the third kind becomes a Jaws-style nightmare when an alien invades a spacecraft in Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror classic. On the way home from a mission for the Company, the Nostromo's crew is woken up from hibernation by the ship's Mother computer to answer a distress signal from a nearby planet. Capt. Dallas's (Tom Skerritt) rescue team discovers a bizarre pod field, but things get even stranger when a face-hugging creature bursts out of a pod and attaches itself to Kane (John Hurt). Over the objections of Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), science officer Ash (Ian Holm) lets Kane back on the ship. The acid-blooded incubus detaches itself from an apparently recovered Kane, but an alien erupts from Kane's stomach and escapes. The alien starts stalking the humans, pitting Dallas and his crew (and cat) against a malevolent killing machine that also has a protector in the nefarious Company. Lucia Bozzola, Rovi

When a futuristic American spacecraft, the Nostromo, answers a distress signal from a distance planet, it is the beginning of a nightmare! Upon landing on the surface of the planet, the exploration of a mysterious, abandoned spaceship leads to the discovery of a huge nest of cocoons that resemble giant eggs. When one of the astronauts is attacked by a creature that hatches from one of the eggs, it is only the beginning of the terror. The astronaut later is revealed to be unharmed and unscathed by the experience, but it leads to the horrendous realization that a predatory alien creature is now aboard their spacecraft with them. Aware that the monster could be lurking anywhere, waiting to claim its next victim, Ellen Ripley and the other astronauts are plunged into a suspenseful, bloodcurdling battle for survival. Featuring splendid performances from Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Tom Skerritt and the other members of the cast, stylish, eerily atmospheric directing by Ridley Scott, and excellent special effects and creature effects, Alien is a real nightmare for horror movie fans! I am not a fan of science fiction, but I love sci-fi horror and sci-fi action as long as they are genuinely good movies. For anybody, Alien fits the bill perfectly!
