Villains from the awful Miss Trunchbull (Pam Ferris), headmistress of her miserable school Crunchem Hall, to her parents and older brother begin to feel her ire. I loved this movie since watching it as a child. But having not seen it since VHS heydays, I was unsure if I would enjoy it now as an Adult. Thankfully this movie delivers!
Danny Devito directed this gem of a film and even stars in it as the crooked father of Matilda. This is the kind of kids film where both the children and the parents can enjoy watching the movie together.
This is a movie about a girl named Matilda, a prodigy, that grows up in a deranged apathetic household only to finally go to school to encounter a psychotic school principal. This movie has this strange setting that blends laughter and horror with a coming of age tale where Matilda learns courage to better her life, while at the same time discovering she has telekinetic powers! One of the many glowing scenes of the film is when Matilda spends time with her compassionate teacher Ms. Honey, and her new found friends she makes at school.
The horror, and laughter, comes when she deals with her scumbag car salesman crook of a father, and punishes the evil school principal Ms. Trunchbull. Who is built like an olympic shot-putter, with the personality of a psycho-gladiator.
The movie has a beautiful ending, and theres enough thrills and antics to keep everyone in the family entertained.
I highly recommend you buy this movie, youll love it! Your kids will love it! It will become a cherished part of your movie collection.
