The authorities threaten to place the old man in an insane asylum, but a young lawyer comes to his defense. Hughes and director Les Mayfield add a few modern touches, making Susan slightly more cynical and adding the requisite soulless corporate villains. This is a wonderful movie that I saw for the first time recently, and I regret not trying it sooner! What really makes this movie is Mara Wilson's performance as Susan. You really felt for her at certain points. This is a timeless movie that everyone needs to see!
