DESCRIPTION: This is a text only book that contains a terrific amount of information on when, how, and where to tour in Portugal, the land of castles, Roman ruins, religious establishments, excellent wine, delightful foods, and friendly people. TOURING PORTUGAL: Most people take a guided tour of Lisbon or Porto, and maybe Sintra and a few other villages, and this is good, but to really see the country one has to drive it and explore it. This book will help you to plan your trip to Portugal and may be the best touring guide you will find. TABLE OF CONTENTS: It has a concise Table of Contents and Index that will not only guide you to places of interest via GPS, but provide you with estimates of the times to visit, and any special requirements you may face, after all, we are in the age of COVID, and special rules apply. DRIVING: There is an entire section on the rules of the road, what to expect when renting a vehicle, the age limits for renting, the toll road system, insurances, parking, signage, and much more. ECONOMIC HISTORY: The author starts off with a short review of the history of the nation and its economic and social background. This is to help you understand the country and its diversified assortment of products and people. LANGUAGE: Portuguese is NOT Spanish, and you should not use Spanish when there. The book provides a glossary of terms that you may need, and it even lets you use the correct terms for asking for the bathroom. FOOD: You are on the road and you will need to eat sometime, thus there is a chapter on the various foods that you might consider. MONEY: Included is a short segment on the money (Euro) and the use of Credit and Charge cards, which is a must to understand if you don't want to be overcharged. SUGGESTED TOURS: There is a section on suggested driving tours that you might consider. THE RULES: The manual covers the things to 'do and not do', the foods, the entertainment, the very important social rules. THE TOWNS: The book provides the highlights of each town that most tourists visit and includes a short description of each with the GPS for traveling to and from each attraction. Enjoy...
