If the first field hockey book of this series "Hockey: A Philosophical Game" was written for general fans and the previous one "50 Tips from Intelligent Players" was targeted to players; this book "Tactical Dilemmas" is clearly addressed to coaches. A dilemma is a situation in which apparently you have to choose between two possibilities, both of them being, a priori, plausible and equally desirable. I decided to use the format of "dilemmas" in order to express the crucial value of tactical decisions: choices that we are in charge of making. In this book I have tried to empty all my current knowledge and experience. In the first person I often had to face these dilemmas and its consequences, for good or ill. Besides my reflections I will also share how we're facing these topics in Germany, where I'm coaching the men's team of Mannheimer HC. Contents of the Book: Freedom vs Constraints / Players vs Team / Improve vs Innovate / Principles vs Structures / Actions vs Interactions / Erlebnis vs Erfahrung / Decisions vs Affordances / Acquisition vs Development / Successful vs Right / Homo Faber vs Homo Ludens / Discipline vs Responsibility / Attack vs Defense / Adaptability vs Persistence / Expertise vs Versatility / Player A vs Player B / Opponent vs Us / Positional vs Dynamic / Vertical Transitions vs Lateral Transitions / Counter-Press vs Counter-Defense / Symmetric vs Asymmetric / Man-Marking vs Zonal-Marking / Back 2 vs Back 3 / Low-Width vs High-Width / Low-Depth vs High-Depth / Pinning Intervals vs Pinning Individuals / Crowded Circle vs Open Circle / Drills vs Games / Clips vs Stories / Questioning vs Prescriptions / Indoor vs Outdoor Andreu Enrich (Terrassa, 1984) is a former international field hockey player and currently a hockey coach.
