Unique narrative
An African man plainspeaks his tragic journey. Very personal. The book suffers from revisionist edits and comments downplaying African cruelty and black prejudice. Signs of the times I guess, but improper. It is still a compelling 5 star read. This is much more than the story of a black former slave.
