Museum Beelden aan Zee, founded in 1994, expanded in 2003 with an institute for the research of international modern and contemporary sculpture. Everybody who is interested in the subject can use the services of the Sculpture Institute. Library and documentation centre are the nucleus of the accommodation designed by architect Wim Quist. The building, interior design and exploitation were supported by important single or multiannual contributions. Some of the text in this book is connected to the exhibition projects that the Sculpture Institute implemented (or are currently preparing) together with Beelden aan Zee museum, while others are separate works that provide valuable contributions to the field of the history of sculpture.
