This was a textbook for a class on Buddhism and by far the most insightful and helpful to my understanding of the subject. While other textbooks inform about the doctrine, this book provides information about the lives of real Buddhists or events/traditions specific to different locations. I particularly enjoyed the chapter about abortion, and the chapter detailing the life of a nun. Great book for those who want to experience (albeit seconhand) Buddhism in a different way than a traditional textbook allows.
