Verner Panton (1926-1998) lived and worked in Basel, which was close to the Vitra Museum, and when Vitra was opened Panton transferred many objects and drawings and papers to the Vitra Museum archive. The curators at Vitra worked closely with the Panton Office and especially Marianne Panton to provide the most comprehensive showing of Panton's vast output, including textiles.
