It is believed to be originated in the Indo- Burma region and has evolved as a canopy layer species in the tropical rainforest of South and South East Asia. Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is an ancient but nonetheless most attractive tropical fruit. Mango belongs to the class dicotyledoneae, subclass archichlamydeae; order Sapindales and family Anacardiaceae. The family Anacardiaceae includes 60 genera and 400 species, most of them are in the tropics but a few of them are in the temperate zone in both eastern and western hemispheres.
