Dies ist nicht zuletzt gegenw�rtiger Vorkommnisse und deren Tragweite sowie verschiedener Umweltkatastrophen aus j�ngerer Vergangenheit geschuldet. Zudem zwingt der bislang sorglose Umgang mit nicht-erneuerbaren Ressourcen die Gesellschaft, im Hinblick auf zuk�nftige Probleme und etwaige Engp�sse, zum Umdenken. Dieser Verantwortung m�ssen sich Politik und Wirtschaft gleicherma�en stellen. Nur die Durchf�hrung zielgerichteter Reformen und die Schaffung der normativen Rahmenbedingungen auf politischer Ebene erm�glichen der Wirtschaft das Handeln im Sinne des Umweltschutzes. Diese Entwicklung betrifft s�mtliche Branchen und Wirtschaftszweige. Gerade im Bereich der Logistik, welcher durch den G�terverkehr erhebliche Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt hat, sind Ma�nahmen im Sinne der �kologischen Verbesserung durchaus notwendig, was zur Entstehung der so genannten Gr�nen Logistik gef�hrt hat. Dabei stehen die Reduktion von Emissionen sowie der sorgsame Umgang mit fossilen Brennstoffen im Vordergrund. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Darstellung der Gr�nen Logistik im Kontext des Stra�eng�terverkehrs wie auch die �kologische und �konomische Bewertung dahin f�hrender Ma�nahmen aus verschiedenen Handlungsfeldern. Der erste Abschnitt setzt sich mit den allgemeinen Begriffsdefinitionen der Logistik und des Stra�eng�terverkehrs auseinander. Im n�chsten Schritt werden die Auswirkungen des Stra�eng�terverkehrs auf die Umwelt n�her beleuchtet. Danach wird auf das Begriffsverst�ndnis zur Gr�nen Logistik eingegangen und die Beweggr�nde der Unternehmen dargestellt, sich mit Gr�ner Logistik auseinanderzusetzen.
