In eastern India where fertile land and water were available in abundant but poor infrastructure for farmers to adopt and exploit the potentials of more productive technology interventions became necessary to provide these missing means. A major interventions came in the state of Assam in eastern India in the form of World Bank supported Assam Rural Infrastructure and Agricultural Services Project, major intervention in agricultural sector in the eastern India.
