Die konkreten Verwirklichungsformen und Funktionen des Amtes (und der Amtstr�ger) sind dabei einem st�ndigen Wandel unterworfen. Mit diesem Funktionswandel reagieren Religionsgemeinschaften auf die sich ver�ndernden Bedingungen des Glaubens und der religi�sen Praxis. Die Beitr�ge gehen diesen Erwartungen an geistliche Amtstr�ger, an ihre Identit�t und Legitimation im Wandel der letzten Jahrhunderte nach und bringen diese auf zwei Ebenen zur Sprache: auf der Ebene der Leitbilder und auf der Ebene der realen Erscheinungsformen, die die jeweiligen geschichtlichen, kulturellen und sozialen Gegebenheiten hervorgebracht haben.
